According
to GSA data, 521 operators have now
commercially launched LTE, LTE-Advanced or LTE-Advanced Pro networks in
170 countries and 147 of these operators (37%) have deployed
LTE-Advanced
while 9 of these operators have commercially launched LTE-Advanced Pro.
LTE-Advanced has now moved into mainstream deployments and GSA has
raised its forecast to 560 LTE network deployments by the end of 2016.
Since
the beginning of 2016, 74 mobile operators have
commercially launched 4G/LTE service and countries such as Bermuda,
Gibraltar, Jamaica, Liberia, Myanmar, Samoa, and Sudan are the most
recent to gain
access to 4G-LTE mobile broadband.
These, and other industry facts and figures can be found in the latest GSA industry
report – GSA
Evolution to LTE, which can be downloaded from the GSA web site.
For those
people looking for a more focused LTE read – GSA has produced 6 Snapshots and a number of graphs and maps that have been pulled
from the Evolution to LTE report on the following topics:
The 1800 MHz
band (b3) is the most widely used contiguous band in
4G-LTE commercially launched systems deployments worldwide. The second
most
popular contiguous band is 2.6 GHz (b7), followed closely by 800 MHz
(b20) then AWS (b4). Band 40 is the most commonly used spectrum for LTE
TDD
deployments. Download the GSA
Chart for full details.
Narrow Band IoT
continues to be a hot topic in the
industry and has consistently featured in the top 10 ranking of
